| Operating System |
This program is designed and optimized for Windows Server 2003, XP SP2 or 2000 (32 bit OS versions only). We recommend both installing the program and running it from an administrator privileges account (we are going to be working to change this so that you can run from a non-admin account). 64 bit operating systems are not supported and the WinPcap driver does not currently support 64 bit -- it will in the near future.
NetScanTools Pro 10 may run on Windows Windows NT4 SP6a, ME, and 98. HOWEVER, these operating systems do not allow the program to run at its full potential and are unsupported by us. Some features may not work due to operating system limitations. We have not tested the program on those operating systems and will not be able to provide technical support for installations of the program on those unsupported operating systems.

| Video Display Resolution (minimum) |
We recommend 1024x768. We do have a laptop that has 800x600 small font size that it displays on just fine, but if you run 'large fonts', 800x600 is not adequate.

| Network Connection |
NetScanTools Pro requires a TCP/IP network connection with access to a DNS. We recommend a wired connection such as ethernet. It will run on a wireless connection, however the IP Packet Viewer may or may not be able to capture packets from a wireless interface. It will also run through a modem connection. For best results, do not use it behind a firewall unless you can configure the firewall to pass the packet types we use (ICMP, TCP/UDP, ARP). Personal firewalls and some antivirus scanners that check incoming and outgoing email will cause false positive reporting when using port scanner due to the way they operate. We use the WinPcap packet driver for some features. This goes around many personal firewalls including the Windows XPsp2 firewall and allows us to talk directly with network interface. Installation of the WinPcap driver is required.

| Computer Speed (minimum) |
We used NetScanTools Pro on a PentiumŪ 90 with Windows NT4 SP6a until October of 2004--it was slow. We would recommend at least a 400Mhz machine. 64MB memory is absolute minimum, we recommend 128MB or more.

NetScanTools Pro requires 28 Mbytes of disk space.

| Registration |
Registration is required after program installation to activate the Maintenance Plan. You get 15 uses in unregistered mode.
